“I’ve got a choice.”
From an original “Series 1” promo for Doctor Who
I finally get what irritates me about all those posts wherein people say, “GUH, Emma is NOT Hermione—stop making references to her like that. It’s a ROLE she played. She’s an actress.”
Because they always did irk me. But I always thought I was annoyed because it was, well, such a superior sounding thing, because OF COURSE NO DUH she’s an actress, we all KNOW that. Someone just made a Hermione joke and you’re raining all over them.
But I’ve figured it out now—I just saw a Billie Piper gifset on my dashboard and it hit me. I was looking at it like I was looking at Rose Tyler, creating a whole separate existence with that gifset that would work within her alternate universe—why she’d be in a field, who she’d be waving at, etc.
And it’s like—
I’M FUCKING ENTITLED TO FANGIRL THIS SHIT.
It’s something I loved, and that actress embodied someone I love IN it. It’s why you see all of those alternate Avengers gifs going around with clips from them in other movies—people are fanning, and they’re entitled to fan. If the gifset annoys you, it’s because you’re not stanning that particular thing—but a whole different gifset could appeal to you! (Like, for me, I don’t ship Tony/Steve, so I wasn’t going bananas over all of those gifsets, but a gifset of the young Avengers in college? ADORABLE.)
This doesn’t mean we’re idiots—when I look at that Billie Piper gifset, I’ll know it’s her—I’ll know it’s from a different role—and I’ll probably WANT to see whatever the gifset is from.
But in that moment, in that one moment, I’m entitled to be a fangirl, because I want to see Rose Tyler brought to life again.

Day One: Wintersong by Sarah McLachlan
Completely inspired by one of my favorite Doctor Who Ten/Rose vids (seen here). One of the most beautiful and depressing songs ever written, much less one of the most beautiful and depressing Christmas songs ever written.
David and Billie’s last scene together.
Stuff of legend.
so apparently people are bitching about David Tennant and Billie Piper starring in that miniseries.
- I think you may be taking your hatred of Doctor/Rose a little far there, soldier.
- Also are you new to British television?
- Because everyone is in everything.
- Once a BBC player, always a BBC player.
- For life.
- Also, much like David and Catherine weren’t playing the Doctor and Donna in Much Ado About Nothing, Dave and Bills won’t be playing the Doctor and Rose in True Love.
- So JFC, calm yourselves.
- NO ONE IS MAKING YOU WATCH IT, AFTER ALL.
I AM EXCITED FOR THIS!
when silence gets to hard to handle, and the night too long…
this is how I see you: in the snow on Christmas morning
love and happiness surround you
you throw your arms up to the sky; i keep this moment by and by…
One of my fav Doc/Rose vids to one of my fav Christmas songs.
Who didn’t think this when they heard “One last day with your beloved? Which would you choose.”
That was the first Rose reference in all of Series 5, and it was perfect. Have a gorgeous vid (made by the freakishly talented analeian).
