I finally get what irritates me about all those posts wherein people say, “GUH, Emma is NOT Hermione—stop making references to her like that. It’s a ROLE she played. She’s an actress.”

Because they always did irk me. But I always thought I was annoyed because it was, well, such a superior sounding thing, because OF COURSE NO DUH she’s an actress, we all KNOW that. Someone just made a Hermione joke and you’re raining all over them.

But I’ve figured it out now—I just saw a Billie Piper gifset on my dashboard and it hit me. I was looking at it like I was looking at Rose Tyler, creating a whole separate existence with that gifset that would work within her alternate universe—why she’d be in a field, who she’d be waving at, etc.

And it’s like—

I’M FUCKING ENTITLED TO FANGIRL THIS SHIT.

It’s something I loved, and that actress embodied someone I love IN it. It’s why you see all of those alternate Avengers gifs going around with clips from them in other movies—people are fanning, and they’re entitled to fan. If the gifset annoys you, it’s because you’re not stanning that particular thing—but a whole different gifset could appeal to you! (Like, for me, I don’t ship Tony/Steve, so I wasn’t going bananas over all of those gifsets, but a gifset of the young Avengers in college? ADORABLE.)

This doesn’t mean we’re idiots—when I look at that Billie Piper gifset, I’ll know it’s her—I’ll know it’s from a different role—and I’ll probably WANT to see whatever the gifset is from.

But in that moment, in that one moment, I’m entitled to be a fangirl, because I want to see Rose Tyler brought to life again.
